Olen jo lähes 3 vuotta laulanut paikallisessa kirkkokuorossa johon minut sai suostuteltua sen vetäjä kanttori Sisko Huhtala. Viimeisin pyyntö tapahtui Länkipohjan palvelutalolla, jossa he lauloivat minun tavoin yhtenä loppiaisena. Seuraavista harjoituksista lähtien olen ollut yksi kuoron aktiivisimmista laulajista ja mukana ollaan edelleen.
Ensimmäisissä harjoituksissa muut kuvittelivat minun alkavan automaattisesti laulamaan sopraanoissa, mutta alttojen vähäisyyden takia päätin olla yksi heistä. Itsellä kun äänialassa riittää, niin tästä tuli lähdettyä liikkeelle. Keväällä tuli oltua korkeintaan kaksissa harjoituksissa, kun edessä oli ensimmäinen esiintyminen kuoromekossa kyseisessä rukoushuoneen tilassa. Vähän jännitti, mutta ihan hyvin meni. Harjoituksia meillä on kolmet kuukaudessa perjantaisin ja laulajia harjoituksissa lähes 20. Itse olen yksi porukan nuoremmista laulajista, vaan en nuorin.
Mielenkiintoisimpia laulettavia teoksia ovat itselle tähän asti olleet psalmit, joiden sävelkulun kanssa saa välillä takoa enemmän ja vähemmän. Hienoimpina hetkinäni olen tähän asti pitänyt Längelmäen kirkossa laulamiset. Siinä on jotian hienoa ja näihin hetkiin olen muutaman kerran yhdistänyt myös hautausmaalla käynnin kynttilän viennin yhteydessä. Itselle on nimittäin suku ollut jo pitkään hyvinkin tärkeä ja pidän itselle hyvin tärkeänä sen, että vien ja sytytän Karjalaisena evakkona tulleen pappani isän haudalle kynttilän. Ei sillä, että pitäisin itseäni niinkään erityisen uskovaisena, mutta kuten jo mainitsin, minulle on suku hyvin tärkeä ja rakas ilmiö. Onhan kyseessä perussuomalaista räiskyvämpi, huumorintajuisempi ja pitkäjänteinen kansa.
Ja vielä mitä tuohon äänissä laulamiseen tulee, niin kieltämättä sitä on tullut tehtyä jo aiemmin ala-asteen nuorisokuorossa ja myöhemmin paikallisessa viihdekuorossa. Eli tuttua juttua. Näiden lähes kolmen vuoden mukana olon aikana olen saanut vastuuta kahteen asiaan; toimin tämän kuoron toisena vetäjänä avustaen harjoituksissa yksinkertaisin neuvoin ja kehotuksin ja viime keväänä toiminnassa herätettiin vanha perinne emännän pestin myötä joka tuli myös omalle kohdalle. Meilläpäin juodaan äänenavauskahvit joka harjoituksissa joiden keiton ja laiton minä hoidan. Ja mitä tulee vielä tämän kuoron historiaan, niin tämän vuoden lopulla ensimmäisenä adventtina on meidän tarkoitus järjestää kirkkokuoron 100- vuotisjuhlat ensin kirkossa järjestettävän messun myötä ja sen jälkeen kahvituksen merkeissä Västilässä.
